Run Canada (RC) Month is a new initiative launching in April of 2012 with the purpose of promoting running to people of all ages across Canada. Run Canada Month focuses on four main priorities; the Run Canada Races, Run Canada School Program, media engagement and Endurance Group support.
Run Canada Races will feature races from across the country during the month of April. The races are generally existing events which will be promoted through the Run Canada website and media partners.
The School Program "Can your class run a marathon?" will have classes going out and trying to cumulatively run a marathon. There will be information and class project suggestions on Canadian Running heroes, the history of the sport and interaction with national team athletes.
Through a far reaching partnership media partners will promote Run Canada Month. Included in this aspect of the initiative will be articles on training written by many of Canada's top athletes, local running hot spots, race opportunities, among many others.
The final tier of the project will be the Endurance Group support program. The objective of this component is to generate proceeds to support Canada's top distance running athletes and programs in their pursuit of glory.

Funds raised through Run Canada month in 2012 will go to support Canada's Olympic marathoners in their build up to the 2012 London Games. Over the past 12 months Canada's elite marathoners have enjoyed a resurgence punctuated by two athletes, Reid Coolsaet and Eric Gillis, who achieved the Olympic A standard. With several other athletes pursuing the Olympic marathon standard it is quite possible Canada will be fielding a full marathon team at the London Games. Our goal is that our athletes are not only in London but are in London competing with the world's best. In order to give them the best opportunity to compete they need your support. They need resources to take part in a high altitude training camp this spring, they need resources to enable having their coaches and therapists with them, they need resources to insure that no stone is left unturned as they pursue Olympic glory. The Canadian running community is strong and vibrant and we need to support our strongest ambassadors.
